About Conneaut Marsh
Conneaut Outlet leaves Conneaut Lake meandering through a series of extensive marshlands through State Game Lands #213, eventually draining into French Creek at Shaw’s Landing. This marsh is locally known as Geneva Marsh. It was formed by glacial outwash and is Pennsylvania’s largest freshwater marsh system. A variety of habitats, including forested wetlands, shrub-scrub wetlands, and open emergent marshes, a few oldfields, reverting forests, and mixed hardwood forests, creates a unique ecosystem that is used by a diversity of wildlife species.
