The Folly of Ephemeral Virtue- Opening Reception

A Contemporary Art Exhibition

Join contemporary visual artist and curator Marcus Jageman for the opening of The Folly of Ephemeral Virtue, presented in collaboration with The Meadville Tribune and the Meadville Community Revitalization Corporation (MCRC).

This exhibition marks the grand debut of a previously hidden, raw industrial space within the historic Meadville Tribune property, temporarily transformed into an unconventional setting for contemporary art.

The exhibition explores themes of form, longevity, place, regional history, and the relationship between art and its surrounding environment. By bringing contemporary visual art into this unique space, the exhibition creates a dialogue between art, architecture, local history, media, and community revitalization.

The exhibition also connects with MCRC’s work toward designation of a Meadville Creative District through Pennsylvania Creative Industries (formerly the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts). The initiative seeks to strengthen Meadville’s creative economy, support artists and creative businesses, and explore new ways to activate downtown spaces.

Together, these efforts highlight the potential for underutilized spaces to become places for art, culture, connection, and creative activity within the community.
