It’s wintertime! The weather outside is frightful, but there are so many delightful things to do during snowy days. In Crawford County, we tend to get a lot of snow, so we know how to have a good time when it does. Whether you like to play outside or stay inside where it’s warm, we have ways to DIY snowy fun, or you can visit one of these special Crawford County spots. No matter what you’re looking for, these are our best tips for maximizing your snow day experience.

Bring on the Snow

Are you ready to play outside? These are our favorite ways to get the most out of our outdoor snow adventures.

Have a (Snow)Ball With These Wintery Classics

There’s no better way to enjoy a winter day than with these outdoor classics! Are you an adrenaline junkie? Try a sled ride or start a snowball fight with your friends. Looking to indulge your snow architect skills? Build a snowman or even an igloo! There’s a lot of snow to go around, so you’ll have endless possibilities at your gloved fingertips.

Go On a Snowy Adventure

Our favorite outdoor location is… AvalancheXpress! This snowy spot in Meadville is northwestern Pennsylvania’s steepest and longest snow tubing park. They have six 7-foot-tall and 900-foot-long tubing runs for any winter weather thrill-seeker. You can even tube at night!

Looking for a more peaceful way to enjoy the day? On really cold days, you can try ice fishing at one of our local state parks or, if it’s warmer, you can bundle up for a winter hike. We promise the woods and lake are beautiful in the snow!

Enjoy Indoor Fun for All

From baking to board games, there’s a lot of memorable ways to spend a snowy morning (or afternoon!). Make a blanket fort and cook s’mores over the stove. Play a game of sardines. Put some cookies in the oven. Cozy up by the fire with a good book. Whatever you like to do, there’s a way to include your friends and family and make it a day no one will forget.
