Port Farms will be hosting their annual Teacher Appreciation Day as well as Corn Dog Days the last weekend in October. Teacher appreciation day will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 10am – 7pm. All teachers, with a valid school ID, will receive free admission. “One of our main goals at the farm has been to help educate families on where their food comes from while enjoying the fall and winter seasons,” said Co-Owner, Kelly Port. “In 2003 we built our outdoor education classroom and recreation area. We appreciate everything that teachers do and want to honor them on the 26th,” said Port. Only free admission will be granted to teachers. Homeschool teachers can present their state-issued papers or copy of an affidavit to qualify. “Even though we will be celebrating teachers on this day, we will still be open to the public and invite everyone to come out to the farm for our last Harvest Fall Festival weekend,” said Port.
In addition to the Teacher Day, Port Farms will be opening the farm to well-behaved dogs the last weekend in October. Corn Dog Days will be held October 26th and 27th 10am – 7pm. For a donation of $5 (plus your general admission fee), guests can bring their dogs to the farm and enjoy activities like the corn maze. All donations will be given to a local animal shelter. Here are a few things to note when bringing your dog to the farm:
- Dogs must be well behaved, leashed and up to date on vaccinations
- All guests are responsible for their admission ticket: 2 and under free, ages 2+ are $12, and 60+ $5
- Saturday and Sunday hours are 10AM – 7PM
