Erie Wildlife Trail
Maurice K. Goddard State ParkBy Rich Reed Photography
With 8 public lakes, paddleboarding, sailing and kayaking opportunities are all around.
Conneaut Lake, the largest natural lake in Pennsylvania, is great for a peaceful sailing or boating excursion without the bustle of Lake Erie. If you’re paddleboarding or kayaking on French Creek (also the 2022 PA River of the Year!), keep your eyes peeled — you just might see a bald eagle. On a warm day, there’s nothing like a dip in the Woodcock Reservoir or Canadohta Lake. While you’re checking out Pennsylvania’s largest man-made body of water, Pymatuning Lake, don’t forget to take a stroll on the Linesville Spillway — where the ducks walk on fish!
Choose your challenge level on our hiking and walking trails! Pymatuning State Park is a hiking hub, with 7 trails of all types to choose from. Trolley Line Trail in Cambridge Springs is a primitive trail with a hiking feel for more experienced outdoorsmen. If a low-challenge walk or brisk bike ride is more your speed, Ernst Trail’s five-mile paved trail is a great choice. The Spillway Trail within Pymatuning State Park, Woodcock Dam in Saegertown or East Branch Trail in Spartansburg are all perfect options for sunset views over water. No matter which trail you choose, you’ll find yourself immersed in Crawford County’s lively flora and fauna.
After a long day of play, check out our map to find the perfect spot to set up camp.
Crawford County has options for open-air and tent campers, spots for vans and RVs for those on the go, and cabins if you’re interested in a “glamping” experience. Maybe you’ll even want to try more than one as you make your way across all the natural wonders our county has to offer.
