Event Details
The Saegertown Historical Society will host a presentation, The Historical Origins of the Christmas Celebration, by member Lee Nageotte, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, at the Saegertown Heritage Museum (The Saeger House), located at 375 Main Street, Saegertown. Are you curious why Jesus’s birth is celebrated on December 25, why there are 12 days of Christmas, why there is kissing under mistletoe, why we put up wreaths, why we put up trees, and, of course, why Santa Claus is such an essential part of the Christmas celebration? If so, plan to attend this fascinating talk. [Parking is permitted across Main St. or in the Medical Arts parking lot.] Cookies and refreshment will be served. The museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for tours on December 13 and will close for the season after this presentation. The museum bookstore now offers new merchandise for Christmas gifts, including shirts, magnets, decals, and keychains, in addition to books, postcards, and select Saegertown Christmas ornaments.
