Trees of Christmas
Bringing you the Magic
of Christmas Memories
Small communities, like in Crawford County, hold tight to
traditions. In cases like the Trees of Christmas, we are forever
thankful that this 40+ year tradition is long lasting. Through the
tireless efforts of the Meadville Garden Club, these ladies take
to the Baldwin Reynolds House Museum transforming the
mansion into a Christmas Wonderland to be enjoyed the
weekend before and weekend after Thanksgiving. Each room
has a different theme, story, and personality, just like the house
itself. Enjoy the spectacular rooms during the day to see all the
details or come during the evening to the warm glow of lights
illuminating the mansion. Maybe even take the tour twice to see
both! Do you know the secret? All the trees are decorated to fit
the event theme in each room but every year there is only one
ornament that appears on every single tree in the house. This
stems from the “pickle tradition” that states 'On Christmas
morning, the first person to find the pickle on the tree would be
said to have a year of good fortune'. While it is not always a
pickle, you'll have to bring your family to see who will find the
ornament in each room and receive good fortune for the coming
year. Themes such as “Christmas Around the World”, “A Reel
Classic Christmas”, and “Story Book Christmas” are some of
the themes that have donned the halls in Christmas' past during
this two-week event. 2021 will bring the year of “Magical
Christmas Memories”. What is your favorite magical Christmas
memory? Will your memory come to life in the intricately
decorated rooms of the former Supreme Court Justice's house?
You'll have to see for yourself.
This event, held every other year by the Meadville Garden Club
at the Historic Baldwin Reynolds, is not one to miss. Admission
helps to provide funding for 3 local non-profits each year and
helps the Historical Society with the up-keep of the Baldwin
Reynolds House Museum. You can enjoy the beautiful
decorations and support the local charities to make everyone's
Christmas bright.
Enjoy the Trees of Christmas and other local Christmas
traditions in a small town, holiday shopping, and other winter
activities for the whole family by spending the weekend in
Crawford County. Once the halls are decked, we look forward
to seeing you here! Don't worry, if you think you'll miss the
event on the off years, your Trees of Christmas tour ends in the
Boutique gift shop so you can take a piece to remember this
grand event until the next time around.
