Your family trip to Conneaut Lake Park can be more than a one-day excursion thanks to the many amenities that are only minutes away.  If you’re looking for something to do indoors or outdoors, active or relaxed, the surrounding area has plenty of options to choose from that will keep the whole family entertained from Friday through Sunday and beyond. It’s not hard to turn your trip into a full weekend of delicious food, outdoor excursions, and unique shopping experiences when you head to one of these stops.

Grab a coffee at Vacavi Cafe

Vacavi Cafe is tucked away along a corner looking right over the dock of the lake, making it one of the best spots to sip the daily brew or a flavored latte while taking in the view. Grab a pastry for breakfast to satisfy the sweet tooth or try an order of class bagels and lox to really channel some lake living. Vacavi is frequented year-round by locals but is always bustling with seasonal boaters in the summer. You can learn tons about the lake just by striking up a conversation!

Hit the links at Oakland Beach Golf Course

Oakland Beach’s 18 holes are sprawled over rolling hills and through scenic woods. This premier public golf facility offers the complete golfing experience while offering players a feeling of escape and seclusion. Be sure to also stop by their PGA certified shop after you count up your strokes for some quality gear and souvenirs.

Take a boat cruise on the Barbara J

The Barbara J Sternwheeler offers cruises around Pennsylvania’s largest natural glacier lake. The organization is non-profit, and the proceeds all go toward preserving and operating the historic boat for the enjoyment of the lake lovers. You can check out their public schedule to join a cruise or reserve the boat for your own private party!

Taste some wine at Conneaut Cellars

For over 30 years Conneaut Cellars Winery has been making complex artisan wines with regional grapes. Most of their grapes are purchased right from Lake Erie, and all of the award-winning wines are made on site. The interior of the winery was recently remodeled, and the friendly and knowledgeable employees offer up tastings and insight on the process for each wine. Don’t leave without also trying some of their distillery options, like the Crooked Creek Vodka.

Go shopping and antiquing

Only a few minutes south of the park, the Borough of  Conneaut Lake offers visitors an array of quaint shops and eateries like Berry Basket Gift, Candle, and Floral Shoppe and Silver Shores Restaurant. Take a short drive north on Route 322 for a quick stop at R&M Antiques and Restoration then continue on to experience Meadville, a small town with a big personality. Stroll up and down Chestnut Street for an eclectic downtown shopping experience at places like Chateau Christine and stop at the historic Market House for unique crafts and baked good. You’ll want to leave some extra room in your suitcase for your favorite finds!
